This is for a friend's webcomic-- a spread, I think.

The monster is based on the Lovecraftian creature called a Shoggoth.

It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train—a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter.

— H. P. Lovecraft, At The Mountains of Madness

The monster itself took about 4 to 5 hours, and unfortunately lost some detail around the eyes in the later work. The background was derived from a photo/street scene I edited to change perspective and lighting. I think overall this took only 7ish hours. The overall look was obviously inspired by graphic novels and comics (specifically, I had in mind both the movie and graphic novel Constantine, and drew inspiration from there c: ).
